ABOUT THE DAYTON LADY HOOPSTARS

The Dayton Lady Hoopstars is a highly competitive AAU Girls basketball organization founded in the late 1980's. We currently field teams from ages 9U through 18U. At most age levels we field two, three or four teams based on open tryouts that take place in late February & March.

Most of our "First" or “Black” teams and some “Second” or “White” teams will qualify each year for the AAU Div. I National Championships, which are hosted by various cities throughout the nation. (see Past DLH Finishes page) Teams that do not Qualify for the AAU Division I Nationals will often elect to attend the AAU Div.II National Tournaments. Due to the success of our program on a National level, the Dayton Lady Hoopstars have become one of the truly "elite" clubs in the country for girl's basketball.

Since 1996, the Dayton Lady Hoopstars have won 9 AAU National Championships, finished National Runner Up 9 times, and won over 54 Ohio AAU State Championships.  The Hoopstars have qualified 98 teams to attend the AAU Div. I National Championships over the years with 52 teams finishing in the elite-sixteen.  More than 100 former Hoopstars players have also moved on to play college basketball.

Two years ago, during the 2005 season, 11 Hoopstar teams qualified and attended AAU Div. I National Championships with 7 finishing in the elite 16.  Those seven elite-sixteen finishes led the nation, with the Fairfax Stars (VA) having 5 elite-sixteen finishes.  The Hoopstars 9U and 14U teams finished AAU National Runner Up while the 15U team finished third.

Last year, during the 2006 season, 10 Hoopstar teams qualified and attended AAU Div. I National Championships with 4 finishing in the elite 16.   Hoopstar teams finished first in three age groups, second in five age groups, plus a third in one more age group during the Ohio AAU District Qualifying Tournaments for Nationals

The club is self-financing with the individual teams being responsible for their own tournament registration fees, travel fees, and meals. Parents are requested to travel with each player. In order to raise money to help our teams with their finances, the Hoopstars conduct a raffle and will be hosting two AAU Super Regional Tournaments this year in April, plus the Div. II AAU National Tournament for U11 June 29th thru July 7th.

Four years ago the Dayton Lady Hoopstars started a scholarship award program for former Hoopstar players attending college that are not on a full scholarship.  We offer three (3) $1000 scholarships each year.  See more info about this by selecting the link on our homepage.

If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of, as a player, coach, or volunteer, come join the DLH TEAM.
